FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Fire Chief Eric Fulk of the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District has declared that
pursuant to the District’s Ordinance No. 14-01, open burning will be prohibited within the district due to
weather conditions which create an unreasonable risk of fire from September 16, 2025, through and
including the evening of September 22, 2025. If weather conditions do not improve, the ban will be extended
up to another 7 days. Persons who engage in open burning during this time period which results in the Fire
Department being called to suppress a fire resulting from open burning in violation of the prohibition will be
assessed a charge pursuant to Section 8.20 of the Illinois Fire Protection District Act and Ordinance 14-01.
